Plum Brandy
2 c. granulated sugar
2 pt. ripe plums (16) picked over
1 qt. vodka
Place the sugar in a 3 quart glass jar with a lid. Add the plums and the vodka and cover. Place in a dark cool place. Each week for about 2 months open the jar and stir the brandy. Strain the finished brandy through a very fine sieve into a lovely decanter. Its color is vibrant. 1 1/2 quarts.
Pierce the skin of each plum several times with a fork. Stir each week, letting brandy mature for at least 4 months. If you time it right, the brandy will be ready for Christmas.
